This week is National Apprenticeship Week, a celebration that brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy.
At Dorchester Living, we have an established apprenticeship programme which has been successful in training the next generation of tradespersons, many of whom have gone on to secure full-time employment with us, or with our supply chain partners.
Working in partnership with local colleges, including Milton Keynes and Abingdon and Witney, we offer apprenticeships in a variety of trades, with a specific focus on carpentry and decorating. We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome all candidates.
These apprenticeships offer the opportunity to gain experience in a live construction environment on our site at Heyford Park. Our Apprentices learn to work as part of a team under the guidance and support from our highly professional site teams and sub-contractors.
Discussing the importance of apprenticeships, our site manager Daniel Kimber said:
“Apprenticeships are incredibly valuable as they provide hands-on learning experiences, mentorship, and practical skills development. They offer a unique opportunity to gain construction industry knowledge while earning a wage. At Dorchester Living, we have a reputation for quality training, career advancement opportunities, and the alignment of the apprenticeship programme with the individual’s career goals. We offer a supportive environment for growth, giving our apprentices a good start into the adult world and the construction industry.”
Our current intake of apprentices has been 100% successful in attaining their level 2 in their respective trade disciplines, with some achieving the highest pass of distinctions, which is credit to the work ethic and tutelage of all those involved.
Where possible we encourage our apprentices to continue their careers with Dorchester Living, progressing their education and training before completing their NVQ Level 3 qualifications in their respective trade.
