I am originally from London, but when my partner and I started looking for our first home, we soon realised we were going to have to look outside of the capital due to soaring prices. We both started new jobs in Oxfordshire and our search narrowed to somewhere with an Oxfordshire village feel but within an hour of London, and that's how we found Heyford Park. Heyford is a thriving new community and it's only a 10 minute drive from Bicester. There are regular trains from Bicester to London Marylebone which take about 45 minutes.
The location for us is perfect and we are so close to transport links meaning we can get anywhere quickly. We viewed a number of new homes developments in the surrounding area, but it was the quality of the homes that really swayed us. The specification included within the homes amazed us, the standard of build is just so much better than the alternatives we were looking at. As first time buyers, the process of buying our home was really daunting, but the sales team were so friendly and helpful, they talked us through the whole process which made us feel at ease.
There is such a vibrant and modern community here but it is balanced really nicely with typical village touches, there is so much green space including a massive village green. The sense of community here made Heyford Park feel like home to us straight away. Heyford Park has a typical Oxfordshire village feel, but the facilities and amenities are great. As a Londoner, I wanted everything on my doorstep, and here we have a local shop, a bike and coffee shop, gym, hairdressers, dentist, bar, restaurant and bowling alley. The bar holds live music evenings and comedy events, and the restaurant does a great Sunday lunch. There are always so many community events going on. There’s also a running club, yoga classes and a puppy training class - the list is endless!
Living at Heyford Park is great, we really do love it here and we feel so lucky. The development has such a nice feel to it, all of our neighbours are friendly, and it really feels like we are part of a community here. I also love how green Heyford Park is, it isn’t crammed in like other developments. There is a lot of green open space, play areas and places to walk.
A typical weekend at Heyford Park for me would start with a quick gym session on Saturday morning. The Heyford Park Gym is just round the corner from my house and has everything you need, not to mention it is cheaper than most gyms! After that I usually take a stroll to the Heyford Highstreet where I will treat myself to a coffee and cake at the Spokes coffee shop. There's loads of attractions in the local area, so the afternoon is usually spent exploring one of those. Blenheim palace is my favourite and I love walking around the estate there. My girlfriends favourite is Bicester Village, which is only 10 minutes away!
Saturday evening is usually spent at The Heyford having a cocktail or two at one of their live music events. They are great at getting local talent in and it makes for a really fun evening. Sunday's are lazy days for us, but we do take the dog to agility on a Sunday morning, it's a really fun class and we have met some great people through it. A Sunday roast is a must for us, and Baton, in the village do a great Sunday Roast, so you will usually find us there. Sunday evenings are usually spent relaxing in our home, getting stuff ready for the week ahead.
