Race at The Base returns to Heyford Park

The ‘Race at the Base’ running event will again return for another year at Heyford Park, Upper Heyford on Sunday 10 June.

With 5k, 10k, half marathon and junior courses on offer, there is a race for everyone. The courses all utilise the site of the old RAF Upper Heyford base – the runway, RAF taxiway and NATO taxiway – making the courses flat and traffic-free.

The event is being organised by Purple Patch Running, experts in professional organised running events, and is sponsored by Dorchester Living, the company behind the regeneration of the air force base.

For each race, trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place, male and female overall in each race. Also, a finishers medal will be given to all adult and junior runners.

Registration opens at 08:30 for participants to get their race packs. The junior race will start at 09:30AM, the wheelchair race will begin at 09:55AM and a mass start will begin at 10:00AM for adult runners in the 5K, 10K and half marathon.

Sales and Marketing Director for Dorchester Living, Jeanne Evett, Comments:

Once again we have the privilege of supporting the fantastic Race at the Base event. This is a great community event, offering runners the chance to enjoy the scenery of a historic ex-military base.
